My First Christmas Card of 2012.........

I have made my first Christmas card for Christmas 2012 thanks to the girls from Jingle Belles, hopefully I can keep up with it this year as the prompts are every two weeks.
The first promt is:
"NO TIME LIKE THE PRESENT(S)"
so you need to make a card that incorporates gift wrap or some presents, I went with the presents, I saw a card in the Magnolia magazine that I fell in love with but I did my own take on it.

I started off by making an easel card which is very simple, take a standard square card and fold the front of the card in half, you could just leave it at that but I used one half of another square card and attached it to the folded half.

I covered the front and bottom of the card in October Afternoon papers and made the tree by cutting a piece of card into a triange to the size I wanted , then with some BG papers I cut 3cm wide strips and punched along the 12" lengh with a Martha Stewert border punch, layer the strips of paper onto the triangle, trimming the ends off along the straight edge. I decorated the tree with pearls and a glittery star.
Next came the presents, I used chipboard squares and covered them with paper and ribbon, for the deeper parcels,I stacked 5 or 6 chipboard squares together. I finished off with a sentiment from Inspired by Stamping 'Christmas Greetings'. I really enjoyed making this card and look forward to more prompts throughout the year.

Supplies

Papers- October Afternoon, Basic Grey
Stamps- Inspired by Stamping 'Christmas Greetings'
Other- Martha Stewart Scalloped Lace Punch, SU Ribbon, pearls, Spellbinder Label die

I'm really feeling the cold since I got back from Spain, it is so windy here in the Midlands, I'm looking through the window and the trees look like they are going to snap in half. I think it's time for a cup of coffee to warm me up and maybe a bit of crochet in front of the fire.

Hugs
