WIP Wednesday.......Playful Stripes

I'm back today with a new project for my friend's granddaughter. She was 3 years old on Saturday, as her birthday is just after Christmas, she'd got everything she wanted, so we decided I would make her an hand-knitted cardigan as a birthday gift.
I've got lots of patterns for baby knits but not for toddlers so I went on the look out for a sweet girl's pattern.
I didn't have to look for long, I went to the newsagent's on Sunday and on the front cover of Knit Now Issue 16, I saw a girl's cardi by Alana Dakos , called Playful Stripes, it was perfect for Megan.
I regularly listen to Alana's podcast called Never Not Knitting and love all her projects, they are so fresh and on trend.
This cardi is knitted from the bottom up in one piece so there is minimal seaming, which is a bonus.

One tip for you all, don't do what I did, I'm using interchangeable needles, you use smaller needles for the garter stitch but I forgot to change back to the larger size so have had to frog most of the body, arrghh.
I was hoping to have it finished by the weekend but it's looking doubtful now.

Take a look over at Tami's blog for all the WIP's this week.

If you are looking for my Whoo Hoo Wednesday, you can find it, here.

Thanks for stopping by.

Oh, how I wish I had a girl to try this one.... Why, oh why are the patterns for girl so beautiful?!?

Sorry to hear you had to frog it partly, could have been me, though. Started a Wonder Blanket recently and it is way to small. Never mind, it will become a baby blanket for this years Rumania packages...

It looks lovely so far, its a shame about the little slip up with the needles. But I am sure you will catch back up soon!

What a very lucky little girl she is to get a beautiful hand-knit cardigan from you! Alanna's designs are so special ... I imagine that your cardigan will become a a treasured heirloom.
