Bright colours and men's cards

It was Bromsgrove Crop on Thursday night,I never get a lot done but I just love going to meet up with everyone. They are all such lovely ladies and we have such a good laugh.Rach couldn't make it this time as she's very near her due date and we all missed her but we did have a new lady join us for the first time.I hope you enjoyed yourself Alex and that we will see you again.
The morning of the crop the March Scrapagogo kit arrived, when I looked at it I panicked at how bright and loud it was not my usual style at all.I called Libby to see if hers had arrived and I told her not sure where to begin. We decided we'd both take the kit to the crop and she'd help me along a bit, Libby is a great scrapbooker and uses bright colours a lot so I knew I'd be in good hands.I was really pleased with my LO in the end but I admit I did copy some of Libby's ideas such as the giant glitter brads in the circle paper. The use of the same papers and the arrow was a coincidence though.
It was Mick's (DH) Birthday on Saturday and I'm not really into making men's cards but I couldn't really go and get a shop bought one,so here's what I did:
I used the new Autumn Meadows paper range from the new Stampin'Up mini catalogue (available 1st April) and Sense of Time stamp set.I did lots of distressing again even though the papers are already distresed.I also used the fab twine from SU which I wrapped around the card.
This was a very simple card using a Martha Stewart punch.
I went to Sunrise Crafts for the card class on Monday night and Banu  had some gorgeous new Penny Black stamps that I just couldn't resist. Here's what I did with the Sparklers stamp.
I used the Rose Garden paper pad and also the letters and the butterfly came from the same paper pad.The scallop border punch is from Stampin'Up and also the Very Vanilla grosgrain ribbon.I used Victorian Velvet Distress ink on all the edges. The image was also stamped with Victorian Velvet and then glittered.
This time I used some K&Co papers and the sentiment stamp was also a new Penny Black stamp I bought.
The same stamp but this time I used Bundled Sage distress ink and My Minds Eye papers.I glittered the image and used SU Sage Shadow taffeta ribbon.I loved using this stamp and I'm sure I'll be using it a lot more.

Here's the card we made in class with lots of distressing and glitter:
Lastly, just one more card I've made this week using a Hobby Art stamp called Floral Delight.

That's it for now,I'm off to the N.E.C. tomorrow for the Hobbycraft show.I don't really need anything so I'm sure I won't buy too much!!!

Poppy Seed Challenge #2

Just a really quick post today.I love doing challenges,photo/colour inspirations and sketches.I was surfing the web a couple of weeks ago and came across this great blog Poppy Paperie and she had just started the poppy seed challenge where she gives you three little seeds to work with. It is such a fun idea and it really does inspire you.I used the first challenge as a just for fun challenge at a crop I go to and it went down really well. There is a new challenge this week Poppy Paperie #2 .

Here's my take on this challenge.

I used all Stampin'Up supplies.I stamped the kraft card base with the Polka Dot background stamp and white ink. I used the Trendy Tree set of stamps which are so cute and added a button to the middle tree, the edges were inked in Mellow Moss ink.I then started matting the image on to card stock then some PP from To the Nines Designer Paper series and paper pricking the top and bottom edge.I then used the scallop edge border punch on Mellow Moss card stock and attached to the base card and I finally finished off with some Mellow Moss taffeta ribbon.
I can't wait for the next Poppy Seed Challenge,it really is good fun.
Have a good weekend !

The Joys of Spring

It seems ages since my last post,I don't know where the time goes sometimes.I hope all you Mommy's out there had a great Mothers Day and all got extremely spoilt. We went to the Champagne Bar in Selfridges for lunch and once again the food was outstanding. It was nice as Jodie came with us which she doesn't do very often now she's at Uni.I also had a charm bracelet with a pair of angel wings which I love.Paige says the wings look like a wisdom tooth so now I keep looking at it  thinking does it really!
My favourite blog LilyBeans Paperie has put another photo challenge up which I love doing and this one was no exception.I think the gorgeous pink and lush green with the white thrown in is so fresh. It fills you with the joys of spring. Here's the photo from a creative mint .

Here are my cards inspired by the photo

Sixxix Flower Layer #1
I used the new Papermania Rose Garden paper, the colours are a perfect match for the photo. The embossing folders are Sixxix Wedding Set and the flowers I made myself which I am so pleased with.Libby sent me this link that she found on UKS http://www.ukscrappers.co.uk/boards/showthread.php?t=286842. It works with any shaped flower die or punch and I've made two different flowers using the same technique. The large flower was made by using Sixxix Flower Layers #1 and the small flower was a cuttlebug die.Thank you so much Libby for sending me the link I know I'll be playing a lot more with different shapes, stamping and glittering.
I went for lunch today with Libby,Rae and Bella ( she's so adorable). We went to the Vineyards where they do a fantastic platter but they have also got a craft shop which we happened to pay a quick visit to.Rae and Lib were very good and didn't buy anything but I couldn't resist some Sixxix Embossing Folders which I'm sure I will be using quite a lot on my cards.
I went to Sunrise crafts on Monday night for the card class where I met up with the usual crowd. There was the usual banter and plenty laughs.Dee has arranged for us to go to Porthmadoc in Whit week to have a weekend of crafting,we went last summer and I have never laughed so much.We were like naughty school girls let out on their own. Here's the cute little card we made at class.

I've also managed to use some of my January Scrapagogo kit this week.I find subscribing to a kit every month is a great way to get some of the latest releases and try them without having to buy everything in the range.

I used the Twisted sketch #40 for the Birthday in Gozo LO.I've been meaning to have a go for a while as I love following sketches and I always look at what Claire does with them every week as she's on the design team.
That's all for now folks, back soon!

Special cards and Karaoke....

Well, as I'm writing this post I'm been serenaded by Paige and her friend on the Wii Sing. They think they're the new Pussycat Dolls.I'm not sure they'll be  the next X-Factor winners but they're having fun practising.

I've been asked to make a couple of cards this week so I've managed to get them done today. My Sister wanted a special card for her in-laws 50th Wedding Anniversary so I used a large 8x8 card and I made a box to make it extra special.

The matching box

My friend asked me to make her a New Baby card for her friend who had a baby boy yesterday. She does make cards herself and I'm sure she would have made a beautiful card herself but here's the one I did for her.

My pre-order of Stampin Up goodies from the new mini catalogue (out 1st April) have arrived today. There's some really gorgeous products. There's a fab new 12x12 double-sided paperpad, some brilliant new punches and if you love vintage like I do there's some gorgeous new stamp sets.I can't wait to start playing with my new toys!!!!

First card class!

Just a short post today as I didn't get to do a lot of crafting last week.I did meet up with Libby,Lisa and Rach for lunch and we also visited a couple of craft shops which is compulsary when we get together.
It was the crop on Saturday and Libby asked if I would do a card class.I did agree reluctantly but only because I was worried people wouldn't like the card or I messed up along the way.I had more do the class than I thought and I was running around the tables all afternoon but it was all good fun and I think everybody was pleased with their card.I'm glad I said yes and hopefully will do another one soon.

All supplies are Stampin Up.The flower is made by using the scalloped circle punch .I stamped the Bella Toile background stamp onto kraft card using the white inkpad (it is the best white inkpad I have used and I've tried them all).

Here's another card using all Stampin Up products.I just love the Pocket Silhoutte stamp set they are so pretty and dainty.
My Stampin Up order will be here tomorrow with all the new goodies from the new mini catalogue (available 1st April). I can't wait to start playing they have got some really lovely goodies in there.Watch this space!

Spring is here....

What a gorgeous couple of days, doesn't everything look better when we have a bit of sunshine.Even my cardmaking has suddenly gone all spring-like.I love the colour combination of pink and green.

I decided to challenge myself today and do the photo inspiration from Melissa Phillips blog. I don't very often use the colour lilac, and struggled to find some lilac in my stash, but I'm glad I gave it a go as I wouldn't have put orange and lilac together but it does works!

Went to Scrapagoago Gameover event on Saturday and had a great day.I went with Libby and Lisa but Jackie,Julie,Claire and Julie, who are also from Bromsgrove crop, were there as well, we had such a fun day. We did 4 LO's and a mini book,I was amazed that after the classes they came round and gave you any spare paper and embellishments you wanted for free. The GoGo girls were all lovely and it was great value for money, can't wait for the next event. All the classes we did were fab but this is my favourite LO as the colours and the paper we used were right up my street.

Back soon!
