FO Friday.........Good News and Bad News.

The good news is, I have finished my Mock Cable Socks after a month, the bad news is..............

the dye has run from the yarn!!!!

I soaked them last night, ready to block and when I came to take them out of the sink, they looked like this. I was going to do some toe surgery and remove the cream and replace with the brown but the whole sock is patchy, with some of the rib and foot, turning a purple/blue colour. I will still wear them around the house, though.

I have used the Natural Dye Studio yarns a few times and have never had this problem before, I'm obviously gutted after spending all those hours knitting them but it was just one of those things.

I have got to say the customer service has been excellent, I emailed them this morning and within 20 minutes I had an email back, apologising and a full refund. They haven't had any other problem with this dye lot so it was just my bad luck. They are also looking into why this would have happened so that's all I can ask for, sometimes company's pass the buck which they didn't.

Check out Tami's blog for other FO's this week.

Thanks for stopping by, have a great weekend.

I agree -- what a bummer! Does saying "bummer" age me? Ah, who cares!! :) So sorry about your socks.

Dont you just hate that.

I just watched clothes for fall and winter.

Everything is in. So your socks are trendy.

So not really a real miss.

They are mixing squareswith wee other squares, colors all styles like leopard coates for fall. alright. Mixing together so your in girl.

Red is in and navy blue is in. I love navy blue.

The sky is the limit.

Great socks but what a bummer about the dye running.

Obviously just one of those things. Every now and then you just get a bad batch. Still it sounds like you got some excellent customer service from them.

I love the socks! If you don't tell, it looks like an intentional effect. The toe picks some of the blues that show in the socks.

Oh that's too bad but it's good you contacted the dyer. Perhaps after more washings the color will even out a bit?

O.o. It's every knitter's worst nightmare. I'm glad to hear you're getting some good customer service. And yes, maybe a few more washes, some vinegar soaks or even an overdye might help to even out the colour?

That's a shame to see that happening, although I am glad you got good customer service from them!

Hope you manage to fix them up ok!

Oh no, what a shame :-( Could you dye the toes a darker colour to try to hide it? Or even just soak the whole sock in dye and see if that masks it? They look lovely though

oh no, I hope you still get lots of wear out of them, beautiful pattern.

I'm so sorry about your socks! Next time try throwing in one of those Tide Color Catchers and also vinegar sets colors. I dye wool for applique and rug making and that's what I do to "set" the color.
I need to contact Cascade as I used their 220 and my socks felted in the washer! They never even made it to the dryer! Not even wearable unless you are an infant! LOL!
