Good morning, I hope you all had a good weekend, it's a busy time of year and not so much free time on our hands but I have found time to cast on another pair of socks.
1- I have lots of sock yarn that I want to use up in my stash, my goal for 2014 is to knit from my stash.
2- They are portable and can just throw them in my bag if I go anywhere.
3- They are quick to make, I love seeing my knitting take shape and very satisfying when you've finished a project.
4- I like to have a smaller project to work on when I'm knitting larger projects so if I start getting bored I can pick up my socks.
The pattern is Rosebud by Wendy D. Johnson and they are from the book, Toe-Up Socks for Everyday. I'm using Rowan Fine Art sock yarn in shade 302, Tawny. It is a variegated yarn and I know some knitters would perhaps do a Vanilla sock or less patterned as you don't really see the full effect of this pretty lace pattern. I prefer to knit a patterned sock and though it's hard to see the pattern you can see the texture which I love.
As you can see, I've started Knit the Season by Kate Jacobs, it's a fun read with the same characters from A Friday Night Knitting Club. I'm linking this to Ginny's Yarn Along, check out what everybody else has been reading and knitting this week
On the subject of sock knitting, I've decided I need to knit myself some festive socks and have just ordered some Malabrigo sock yarn in Ravelry Red, it should be here by tomorrow. I haven't decided on a pattern yet but I'm thinking something with cables.
I've also been working on my Henslowe shawl and have now started the lace edge, it's coming along quite quickly to say it's a 3ply yarn. The yarn has a very soft halo and is so warm without been bulky, I can't wait to finish it so I can wear it.
Check out other WIP's over on Tami's blog, enjoy the rest of your week and I'll be back on Friday with some Finished Objects. One last thing do you remember the Livingston cardigan I was knitting my nephew, well I've decided to frog it. He is 6 months old and he is growing rapidly, he is in 9-12 months clothes already It would just about fit him now but wouldn't last him a few weeks so made the decision to undo it and maybe knit him a cardigan instead.

Your socks look great, I love the stitch pattern.
Hope you will have a lovely day!
Those socks are so pretty! I love them!
Ohhhhhhhhh the color you are using on the socks is just gorgeous!!!!
Great socks Deb a lovely colour. As you know I am too frightened to knit socks, what if they are not the same? or what if I get addicted to knitting socks? Good to hear from you. Jo x
The colours and patterns are simply beautiful - I'd have to wear sandals out with these, I'd want to show them off! ;-} my goal for 2014 is to learn to knit, you are such an inspiration! Chrissie x
bummer about the frogging...but so smart to do it now. (a few months ago I found a romper I had started for my son when he was born....he's now 41 years old. Guess that one got lost in the shuffle of new mommy-hood!)
I love it when people say sock knitting is fast and fun. I have yet to find that, but I'll try again one day! I do love the color that you are making your socks in though. It's funny, I just put Knit The Season on my night stand to start reading for tonight!
What a pretty shawl! It looks so soft. I just downloaded Knit the Season this morning after seeing a few people here reading it.
every time I see one of your socks on your blog, I promise myself that I will cast on a pair, but I never do :D ...maybe I'll find time during christmas when the rest of my projects will be finished :)
lovely yarn! really nice color!
that shawl looks so cozy.
and the socks! i love knitting socks and have lots of sock yarn sitting around... maybe i should get to it. LOL
Your socks look amazing. I am knitting from my stash as well. Time to clear out the old so I can get new. =)
Most knitters I know have 3 projects on the go at once - a garment for making at home, a shawl for home/long journeys, and a pair of socks for when they're out and about :) Those look great, and such a lovely colour
Cosy toes! That's what you'll have with these gorgeous socks ... yep, little Miss cosy toes!
Gorgeous socks, Deb - I love that yarn!
I always have a pair of socks on the go, too, they're so portable.
And I am also making some festive socks - great minds think alike!
Your socks are so pretty, and I know what you mean about having some fairly small projects on the go.
I really like the colour of the yarn that you are using. xx
I keep easy knitting in my purse for those down moments while I'm out and about - and it's usually a sock for me, too! (or hexipuffs with the sock yarn scraps. :) )
I love those socks. I have to read that book. So many bloggers have recommended it.
I am so coveting your Henslowe! The socks are Victorian pretty.
Pretty sock!... hugs..x
You have lots going on, so very busy. But your socks are my favourite. Are you making them using a circular needle or double ended needles?

such pretty colors and projects! I have a pair of socks that needs to be finished; should dig them out of the bottom of my knitting bag! Thanks for the inspiration!
It's going to be a beautiful pair of socks. I need to check out that book as I loved the first one :)
They are going to be a gorgeous pair of socks, I haven't knitted a pair for ages, I have some yarn waiting to be knitted into socks somewhere......think I will cast them on after the Christmas knits are done.
I love the colour of these socks, they are going to be gorgeous. I am always in admiration with people who knit socks and you are doing such a fine job of it! Well done, it is beautiful. xoxo
Lovely looking socks, I think the yarn colour is semi-solid enough that you'll be able to see the design when you're finished. I love having socks on the needles too, just perfect for when you want a quick project
You won't be having cold feet this winter Deb, that's for sure! How wonderful to have such pretty, well knitted socks, enjoy! Hugs, Ira x
