Hello, my friends, I hope you've all had a good weekend and for those in the UK, are enjoying the Bank Holiday today. I've had a lazy weekend and haven't done much, we usually drive out somewhere and had planned to go to The Cotswalds on Sunday. We woke up Sunday morning though and nobody really felt like it so we decided not to go, sometimes staying at home is just as nice, I love lazy days, I didn't even cook, we ordered pizza in.
On Saturday morning, I heard the postman arrive and heard a huge thud through the letterbox, I went to the door and saw not one but two magazines, delivered!!! My Saturday was sorted, sitting in the conservatory with the the doors open, the sun shining, a glass of iced cordial and reading two of my favourite magazines.
I particularly liked this month's Mollie Makes, it has lots of fun articles and projects, I loved the flowers on the front cover and also a Fairisle Cowl by Nicki Trench, which I will definitely be knitting, this issue will be in UK shops sometime this week. On Sunday morning, I gathered some fabric, lace, tulle and a assortment of beads and had a go at making some.
They are very easy to make with not much sewing at all, apart from the few beads in the centres, otherwise it's just using a hot glue gun. They say to hand cut lots of circles, I didn't even do that!!! I used my Big Shot die cutting machine and the SU Sizzix Perfect Pennant die, which has two scalloped circles.
I used an assortment of fabric that I had in my stash, including some Tilda, which is the top photo. I used two main contrasting fabrics and probably used half of a fat quarter for each one, the finished flower measures about 3 1/2 inches in diameter. I'm going to make them into brooches, I'm just waiting for some brooch pins to arrive, they would be great to pin onto a plain handbag too or even to put on clips for your hair.
Thanks for stopping by, have a great week.

Sounds like a wonderful weekend! LOVING those flowers! They are gorgeous!!!!!!
Deb I absolutely adore brooches and wear one every day. Yours are just perfect and the fabric and colours are making me drool. It is so lovely sometimes to have a break from everything and not have to dash around seeing everything because is a Bank Holiday. You put your time to very good use Deb and produced some amazing creations. I love them! Have a great evening, sending you lots of hugs.

It is lovely when the big thud through the letterbox is magazines not bills isn't it, and especially when you have time to sit and enjoy reading them! Your brooches look great, very pretty and of course they would be too as they were created by the master of brooches! xx
These flowers are super awesome!
The brooches are lovely!
Ooooo! I LOVE your brooches! I love them more than the ones on the cover! You have such great style, the colour combos, the textures, FAB! Now I'm going to have to copy you with the Tilda scraps - I could pop one on my new summer linen hat! I'm glad you had a relaxing weekend, so nice to be lazy sometimes...and it's always a bonus when the postman brings you new mags, it's like a special command to sit still and read and relax!
