FO Friday..............Pipers Journey

Good morning, my lovely friends. I'm back today, to show you my finished Pipers Journey Shawl by Paula Emons-Fueslle. Once I got started on the border on Monday evening, it didn't take long to finish, I did manage to get quite a lot done when I went to my friend's house on Wednesday for a crafty evening.

I love this pattern, the border is so pretty, it looks a bit like cable at the minute but is actually lace.I have officially finished knitting it but I do still have to block it, which will show off the beautiful lace edge.

I decided to show you before I blocked it as I wanted to wear it over the weekend, I'm off to Burgh Island Hotel, which my husband treated us to, for our 25th Wedding Anniversary. I'll be wearing it like the above photo, wrapped around my neck like a scarf, so doesn't look too bad unblocked.
However, I will block it when I get home and take some photo's of it, next week.

Check out other FO's, this week, over at Tami's blog.

Don't forget, you still have time to enter my giveaway, to win a copy of Pau Hana by Mel Ski's Knits, you have until Monday 7th October, 7pm BST, just leave me a comment on this blog post.

Have a great weekend.

Work in Progress........Pipers Journey and a pattern give-away.

Hello there, how are you all doing? I've just got back from Spain, I had a wonderful time but I didn't get to do much knitting. Since I've got back though, I have been working on my Pipers Journey which I have named "Buddies Journey" as it's part of Mel'sBuddy System KnitTogther over on Ravelry, which is running through September and October.

My buddy is Lyn, a UK lady who now lives in Canada and we are both working on Pipers Journey. It's such a great system, we quite often have a good old chin wag over PM, not just about knitting but other things too. When I got back from Spain, she messaged me to say she'd won the Pau Hana by Mel Ski Knits, one for herself and one for a friend and she has given it to me!!!!! Thank you, Lyn, maybe we can knit this together, at some point.

This is the Pau Hana jumper, isn't it pretty? Mel has kindly offered me another two Pau Hana patterns to GIVEAWAY to you!!!!! Mel has used a beautiful Space Cadet ombre yarn in pretty coral colours, if you would like to win a pattern, just leave me a comment, telling me what colour yarn you would chose to knit the Pau Hana in, I will randomly pick two winners on Monday.

I've just been working on my shawl, since I returned, I reached the required number of stitches on Monday evening and started the lace border, last night. After using the two colours to knit a stripe pattern, I'm knitting the border in the beige colour in Rowan Cashsoft DK.

Every Wednesday, I link to Ginny'sYarn Along, where we show our knitting and also what we are reading. While I was on holiday, I read three books, I finished An Absolute Scandal by Penny Vencenzi by Wednesday afternoon, then also read A Night on the Orient Express by Veronica Henry. I loved this book, it makes me want to go on the Orient Express even more now, it sounds so glamorous. The other book, which I had to read on my Kindle, as I only took the two books, was The Saturday Supper Club by Amy Bratley. The last two books were fabulous holiday reads, good old chick lits.

I've now started to read Stay Close by Harlan Corben, this a tense thriller and a much darker, grittier read than my last three books. I haven't got too far in yet, but what I have read so far, is holding my attention and I'm wanting to find out what the three main characters are hiding.

I'm also linking to Work in Progress Wednesday over on Tami's blog.

Finally, here are a few of my holiday snaps.

Works in Progress.........A Quick Knitted Gift.

Good morning, I've got two projects that I'm working on this week. One is my Pipers Journey by Paula Emons-Fueselle, that I'm doing with the Singlehanded Knits - Buddy Knit Together, the other project is the Ammolite by Alexa Ludeman which is a really quick knit.

I'm now up to 225 stitches on my Pipers Journey and have joined my second colour, I joined it at 207 stitches on the second row of the pattern.

I chose to join it on the wrong side as I like the look of the look of the two colours intertwining, here is a close up of how the two colours look, together.

Next up is the Ammolite cowl which I started yesterday evening, I'm knitting it in Sublime Cashmere Merino Silk Aran so it's knitting up really quick plus it's an easy pattern to memorise.

I will finish this by tonight, these would make great Christmas gifts as they are really quick to finish. The pattern is from issue 6 of Pom Pom Magazine, I've also finished another pattern from this magazine which I will talk about on Friday.

I finished Inferno by Dan Brown, last night, it was good but I didn't enjoy it as much as his first books, tonight I will be starting The Beach Street Knitting Society and Yarn Club by Gil McNeil. It's set in a seaside wool shop in the UK, I'm really looking forward to reading this, seaside, knitting and a wool shop, that's a winning combination.

I'll be linking this post to Ginny's Yarn Along where, each week, you can share your knitting projects and good reads.

I'm also linking to Tami's blog for Work in Progress Wednesday so check out both blogs as there are always some fab projects. I actually first saw this book on somebody's Yarn Along post, so it's great for picking up new reading material.

I just wanted to share this photo, we went to Bicester Shopping Village on Sunday, their Autumn theme is knitting and yarn.

There were giant size needles and yarns everywhere, there are even handknitted cushions on the benches, great fun.

Thanks for stopping by, I really appreciate the time you take out of your day to read my posts, have a good week.

Pipers Journey................and more.

Hello, my friends, I hope you are all having a good week, so we're into September and I have started a new project. I always like to start something new at the beginning of each month and hopefully finishing by the end of the month.

This is another shawl and the pattern is called Pipers Journey by Paula Emons-Fuessle, I've renamed it "Buddies Journey", though. The reason I've renamed it, is because I've joined in with The Buddy System Knit Togehther, set up by Mel from Single Handed Knits.

The idea of this, was to find a buddy who wanted to knit the same project, same yarn or any common link. My buddy is a lovely lady called Lyn who is British but now lives in Canada, we both had Pipers Journey in our queue, so decided to knit it together. It's fun to have somebody to knit the same project with, After chatting about our likes and dislikes and what yarn we were going to use for our shawl, Lyn said she was using a different colour for the border, which I hadn't thought of doing, so I also decided to go with two colours.

The patterns uses a sport weight yarn but I'm using Rowan Cashsoft DK on 4.5mm needles so mine will turn out slightly bigger. I'm now up 111 stitches on my needles, I'm only doing a few rows each evening as I really want to finish my Mock Cable Socks.

I've just turned the heel on my second sock so I'm on the home run now, these socks are taking ages and I'm itching to start another pair. As you can see, I'm still reading Inferno by Dan Brown, it's very fast paced and a very enjoyable read.

Check out what others are knitting and reading, this week's Yarn Along, over at the Small Things blog.

The other thing, I've been quietly working away on are my crochet hexagons, I'm using Lucy's pattern from Attic 24, which you can find, here.

My friend, Kerry and I are having our own little Crochet-A-Long, we are doing different patterns but are using the same yarn which is Drops Merino Extra Fine and will both end up with a pretty throw.

Check out even more WIP's over at Tami's blog.

Thank's for stopping by, have a great week.
