FO Friday.........Ardvasar Hat

Good morning, I'm back to show you my Ardvasar hat, all finished, Jodie loved the one I made for her and so did I, so this one's for me.

I used a 100g skein of Malabrigo Rios in Sandbank, it's beautifully soft and as you can see the colour isn't flat, it has a sort of marl effect with different tones of beige.

The pattern is from Pom Pom Quarterly magazine Issue 6, I've got one more to knit, this time as a Christmas gift. Jodie has asked though if I'll knit her some more hats, so you'll be seeing some different patterns on here, soon.

I've also made another drawstring project bag, this time in a pretty floral fabric from my stash.

Beanie-A-Long............with Knitspiring Odyssey.

Good morning, my friends, it's official, Stephanie from Knitspiring Odyssey is doing her first knit-a-long. After mentioning it in one of her posts, a few people showed an interest in joining in, including myself. Stephanie has put a Mr. Linky up so everyone can join in and show what hats or beanies that you are knitting/crocheting, you can find it here.

She is hoping to post most Tuesdays, everyone can set their own personal goal, like Stephanie wants to get five beanies finished through the year. I don't have  a goal, if I see a hat pattern I like, I'll cast on, there's no pressure to finish on a certain date, it's all down to what you want. It's called Beanie-a-long with Me, BALWM, it can be knited or crocheted, just link up what your working on. Stephanie was very nervous about putting herself out there, so it would be lovely if you could support her, I know she would really appreciate it.

I've started another Ardvasar by Lucy Hague, I'm knitting this one for myself, I'm using Malabrigo Rios in Sandbank. It's a pure merino superwash, it's lovely to knit with, it feels warm and soft and also has the squish factor.

I really love this pattern and will be making some for Christmas gifts, because it's an Aran weight, they knit up quite quickly. The Celtic Cables look quite intricate but are surprisingly easy to do, if you can cable you can definitely do this.

A Penchant for Shawls..............A New WIP.

Hello there, my friends. How is your week going? I think I have a bit of a penchant for shawls at the moment, I've finished two in the last 7 weeks. After finishing my Makai Shawl, on Sunday, which I blogged about here, I immediately cast on another shawl.

I've had the French Cancan by Mademoiselle C pattern, in my Ravelry queue for some time, the pattern calls for a Merino/Silk DK yarn. I wanted to use my stash and I had some Sublime Cashmere Merino Silk Aran in a beautiful grey/sage green colour called Bay. Even though I used Aran weight, I still followed the pattern as it was wrote, I did extend the length until I'd used up my third ball of yarn and ended up with 213 stitches.

I started it on Sunday evening and because it's Aran weight, it knit up very quickly, I had the Garter stitch portion finished by Monday evening and started the edge. I've got to say, I don't go to bed very early so I did knit for quite a few hours through the evening, while watching TV. Talking about TV, on Monday night, I watched a new Sci Fi drama on Channel 5 called Under the Dome, it was so good. Did anybody else watch it? What did you think?  Also, the new series of The Great British Bake Off started, last night, which I love!!!!! 

I got this much of the border finished, last night, I really do love this pattern, it's turning out even better than I thought, using Aran weight. They would make gorgeous Christmas gifts as they are fairly quick to knit.

I haven't worked much on my Mock Cable socks but I have managed to finish the one and have just finished the toe on the second.

In all the years I've been knitting, I've never knit myself a garment, so that is something I'm going to remedy, very soon. I ordered this pattern book Misty by Kim Hargreaves, I highly recommend it, there are some beautiful patterns, in fact I don't think there's one, I don't like.

I've recently discovered a wonderful blog called Small Things, Ginny shares her family life and takes amazing photo's. Each Wednesday she has a Yarn Along, where you can link up what you are working on and which book you are currently reading.

When I went to see my daughter's new house, the other week, I spotted the new Dan Brown novel, Inferno, on her bookshelf. It was her friend's but Chrissy was kind enough to let me borrow it. I'm only a few chapters in but like all Dan Brown's other books, I'm hooked.
