The Yurt Retreat in Somerset......

Hi there, my friends. It is a week full of celebrations for my family, with my birthday on Thursday, my youngest daughter's 18th on Sunday and today, my husband and I celebrate our Silver Wedding Anniversary, where have the last 25 years gone!!!!!

We went away for a few days on Wednesday and stayed at the The Yurt Retreat in Somerset, it was on my bucket list to stop in a Yurt. I wasn't disappointed, I loved it, it was a complete getaway , with no t.v or internet, just amazing views.

The Yurts were very spacious, with a comfortable double bed, sofa, dressing table and log burner.

There was a large country kitchen where you could cook and prepare your food but the first evening we decided to have a picnic supper on the decking, overlooking the beautiful Somerset views, we even spotted a deer appear out of the woods.

It was on the border of Dorset and as I love the seaside our days were spent at the beach, which was about a 30 minute drive. Thursday morning, we went to West Bay for breakfast and found a gorgeous little cafe on the beach.

After a wander around the beach and harbour we headed to Lyme Regis which is one of my favourite seaside towns.

We spent the afternoon on Lyme Regis beach with some essential beach reads, then went onto Weymouth, early evening. I love the deckchairs along Weymouth promenade.

Friday was the last day in the yurt, so we packed up and headed to Bournemouth first thing Friday morning.

We could have been in the Med, eating feta cheese salad for lunch overlooking the sea. it was a lovely end to a great few days away.

My Weekend in Brean........and an Easter Swap.

It is still freezing, cold here in the U.K.with biting winds but we decided to still go down to Brean, Somerset, for the long Easter weekend, and stay in a caravan. It sounds like we are raving mad but it's a break, Mick doesn't take much time off from work, so we have to make the most of Bank holidays.

On Good Friday we made a detour to Cardiff, as I knew Paige would love the shopping there, she will be 18 in July and my Mom & Dad said they would buy her a Vivienne Westwood necklace. There's a Vivienne Westwood store in Cardiff so after a quick Starbuck's coffee, we headed to there.

After trying on a few different necklaces she decided on the one she liked the most, it's a beauty but it's all wrapped and sealed in the bag so she's not tempted to keep peeking. She also saw some matching earrings so my sister and brother said she could get them too from them.

Mick treated me to a few things from the Cath Kidston shop.

We then headed to Brean, boy, the caravan was cold when we got there but with all the heaters on and the fire, it soon warmed up, I brought lots of my crochet blankets from home for the bed so it wasn't too bad at all.

Once unpacked, we wrapped up and headed out for some dinner.

There are a couple of reasons we go to Brean, 1, it is the closest seaside to us so Mick doesn't have to drive for hours and 2, we always have lots of fun !!!!

After dinner we went to the Karaoke bar, where we were teasing Dan about putting his name down for a song, he very nearly did as while I was pretending to give the man the slip, he actually took it from me so I then had to ask for it back as Dan's face was pure terror.

I had to share this photo, when Dan thought nobody was looking he started flexing his muscles, I love Paige's expression on this photo.

We had a lazy Saturday morning at the caravan, I did some crochet, Paige read her book and the men watched T.V.

We then headed to Weston Super Mare, the weather was kind to us and though it was cold the sun shone, maybe Spring is on it's way.

As we were walking along the Pier, we looked down and saw this in the sand, how romantic, I hope she said "yes".

Easter Sunday was another beautiful, sunny day and was even a touch warmer. Today was the day I got to open my Dawn's Easter Swap that was organised by the lovely Rising Dawn on Instagram.

My swap partner was Erin, who's IG name is Coffee Kisses, I love how she wrapped the one gift in fabric. She had seen I'd been buying sewing books so thought I would like the fabric, such a thoughtful lady.

Wow, I was overwhelmed with these beautiful gifts, I adore the bunny eggcups, I also received a Paperchase hanging bird, Hotel Chocolat chocolate, a funky notebook and a beautiful Celia Bertwill pattern scarf not forgetting the handmade crochet egg cosies.

Later, we had a look around the market, played in the amusement arcades, then went for a drink, it was so nice to be able to sit outside in the sunshine.

So, even though the weather wasn't as warm as it was, this time last year, we all had a really lovely time.

Enjoy the rest of the week.

Back From Cornwall......

Hello to all my lovely blog friends,I've just got back from a week in Cornwall and have unpacked, put a couple loads of washing on then caught up with everyone's blogs. I do miss blog hopping when I'm away but I can't really read them on my phone. We did have a wonderful family holiday though, the weather wasn't good enough to sit on the beach and sunbathe but was nice enough to sit outside to eat, drink and watch the world go by. We visited many pretty Cornish towns, played board games, read and I got some crochet done,we had some good quality family time together which we don't get very often when we're at home. The highlight for my girls though was their first surf lesson, they said it was the hardest thing that they had ever done but thoroughly enjoyed it and want to do it again.

I'm Back From My Jollys..........

I'm back from my holiday and had a fabulous time with Paige,Mom,Dad,my brother and his two children unfortunately Mick couldn't have the time off work but he came down on the Thursday afternoon with Jodie for the last couple of days.We were very lucky with the English weather and it was very warm and sunny most of the time that is until Mick and Jodie arrived,we blamed them that it rained on Friday.
I booked a caravan down Brean last minute and so glad we did,we were either on the beach or in the pool, also Paige and I took long walks along the beach taking lots of photo's,our caravan was a minute walk to the beach, ideal as we didn't have a car.I did a lot of reading and read a great book called Laura's Handmade Life by Amanda Addison,it was a fab chick lit book,I would highly recommend it to anyone who enjoys crafts, vintage, fashion, country life and wants an easy going read,I wanted to be Laura's friend and have her round for coffee, lol, I also got a few  more granny squares finished for my big Aran blanket.
I'm using my blog as a bit of a family online diary too so will share some of our holiday snaps with you,I've seen  somewhere on the internent that you can have your blog printed and made into a book, does anybody know what website or if anyone has actually had it done, please let me know if you do.

Here's a few I took using the Barbl camera on my phone.

When I arrived home I had this beautiful card and tag waiting for me from my fab friend Linda,I just love the pink, glittery cupcake and the vintage tag, isn't the image beautiful and all that stitching,I just love them, thanks Linda.

I will be back with some crafty things on my next post and will catch up with looking at everyone's blog in the next few days.
Thanks for letting me share a bit of my family life with you, back soon.
