Crochet Bobble Blanket........out of hibernation.

Do you remember the Bobble Blanket that I started back in September?

The gorgeous Rooster yarn and the few rows of my blanket has been hibernating, it's all stored in this case. The suitcase is in my lounge, so I look at it every day and keep thinking I must make a decision on whether I should carry on with it or frog it.

After the first few rows, I could see that it was going to be a "yarn eater", so I worked out how much yarn it would take to make a decent size blanket, you can see all my working out here.

I could have used a cheaper yarn but the Rooster Almerino DK is so lush, I love the colours and is very soft and squishy.
Anyway, I've made a decision and I'm going to carry on with it, Mick bought me a few balls for Christmas and I'm going to buy a few balls, when I can.

The pattern I'm using is from The Nearsighted Owl blog and you can find a great You Tube tutorial video here for the Bobble Stitch.

This used to be my One a Day and as luck would have it, Carole from Gingerbread Girl blog has recently restarted it up again. Hopefully, I can get one row of pattern done, each day but I'll be happy with half a row as it takes quite a while to finish a complete bobble row.

I'm a day late with my Tuesday's Tallies but on time with WIP Wednesday, check out what everyone else is working on over at Tami's blog.

Thanks for stopping by and thank you to all the advice you ladies gave me back in October, I re-read all your comments yesterday, which helped with my decision.

Tuesday's Tallies.......Christmas Crochet.

Hello there, my lovely friends. Yay, the big man will be visiting soon, I hope you are all well at this busy time of year and have most of your shopping done.

Since Carole decided to stop Tueday's Tallies due to other commitments, Fiona from Knit Knat Knot UK has now taken over, which I'm so happy about as it makes me pick up my larger projects so I hope you will take a look at her fab blog and hopefully join us all after Christmas with a new project that you may have been wanted to start for a while. All you do with this CAL  is one square or one row a day, there is no time restriction, it's all very relaxed but it's surprising how quick you will get something finished.

I still haven't started back on my Bobble blanket but once Christmas is out the way I'll be back to it, I have got some fun  Christmas crochet projects to show you though, that I've made this week.

The first one is this fun Christmas Toadstool, I love it and it's so quick to make, you can find the pattern, here.

The next project are these bottle toppers and bow ties, I thought it would make these personalised bottles of wine more festive. There isn't a pattern for this, I made it up as I went along but if anybody is interested, I'll have a go at writing it down.

Last but not least, I've made this sweet little baby hat with some leftover merino yarn that I had, it's going to my friend's baby niece. The pattern is by Connie Stults and can be found, here.

Thanks for stopping by, I'm so sorry I haven't been visiting your blogs lately, I just haven't been about much but I will stop by over the weekend.

Tuesday's Tallies..........Knitted Owl Wrist Warmers.

Hello there, I hope you had a good weekend, I'm back today but my One a Day is on hold until I've finished all my Christmas presents. My secret project is completely finished which was my largest gift to make.
This week I have made a pair of Owl Wrist Warmers from this month's Mollie Makes.

It was such a quick knit, though it didn't tell you how much yarn you need, so if anybody decides to give it ago, you need 100g of chunky, I used Rowan Cocoon in Mink, instead of using buttons for the eyes, I stitched them on using black yarn and a French knot.
If you hop on over to Carole's blog, you can check out what the other ladies have got on this week.

This week I will be starting another Austen Capelet but this time in a beautiful red merino wool, this is towards my little niece's Christmas present.

Before I go, I'd like to share a few photo's from my weekend, on Friday, Mick and I went to the German Market with some friends.
It was a beautiful winter's day, cold, crisp and the sun was shining, just perfect for wandering around the market, all wrapped up.
We went on the Big Wheel.

I went on the carousel for the first time in years, since my girls have grown up.

We then wandered around the market, looking at all the beautiful stalls, enjoying  the wonderful smells from the food and drink stands. We stopped at a couple to buy a mug of Gluhwein, just to warm ourselves up, of course.

On Saturday a few of us went to my friend Diane's house, to celebrate her birthday. What a fabulous day, she had a beauty therapist at the house and she treated us all to a treatment. I had the most divine Indian Head massage. We chatted, laughed, had lunch, drank champagne then finished off with Afternoon tea, isn't the tea set, just gorgeous ?

When I got home, Paige had put our Christmas tree up, I know it's fairly early, but we just love Christmas so make the most of it for as long as we can.

Thanks for looking, it was a bit of a long post, so thank you for sticking with it. Have a good week, I'll be back soon.

Tuesday's Tallies..........and a Crocheted Cape.

Hello there, it's Tuesday and I'm back with my Tuesday's Tallies, I've only got one square finished this week on my secret project.I haven't been well all week so haven't felt like doing much. Everytime I tried to pick it up I made a mistake so thought it would be best to leave it, hopefully I can catch up this week.

I have managed to crochet this sweet little Austen Capelet, it is so quick and easy to make, I didn't have to concentrate so much on this pattern. It was a very enjoyable little make.

The pattern is from babies to adult size, so might make myself one, I'm waiting for some more yarn to make my little niece one in red.
Thanks for looking, if you hop on over to Carole's blog, you can check out how everyone else has got on this week.

Tuesday's Tallies............A Secret Crochet Project.

Hello there, did you all have a good weekend ? It's that time of the week again and I'm back with my Tuesday's Tallies.

I was quite busy last week on the crochet front, I did my first Craft Fayre on Saturday, so was busy making for that and I started a new secret project.

I'll start off with my One a Day, the secret project is for a Christmas gift, so I can't give a lot away, all that I can tell you is, it isn't a blanket but they are Granny Squares and I've finished 5 this week.

and here are some of my makes for the Christmas Craft Fayre.

A set of coasters using an 1893 Circle Motif reworked, you can find the pattern here, I used two strands of cotton DK, so they were quite sturdy.

Next I made a selection of crochet flower brooches, using a pattern from Mollie Makes magazine. I made the kraft tags to display them on and stamped, " Handcrafted with Love " on the front.

Here are some washcloths with a Lavender & Jasmine soap, sorry, I don't know where the pattern is from as I'd just got it wrote down on a scrap of paper.

Lastly, I made some apple cosies, this pattern was also from Mollie Makes.

So that's me done for this week, you can check out what everyone else has been up to here.

Thank you for joining me, I really appreciate your time.

Tuesday's Tallies.........Strawberry Baby Shoes.

Hello there, did you all have a good weekend ? I've just spent a lovely, relaxing week in Spain, just enjoying the sunshine.
It's back to reality now though and I'm back today with my Tuesday's Tallies, I haven't done much as I didn't take anything with me on my holidays but I did knit a little pair of Strawberry Baby Shoes on Monday evening.

Aren't they sweet ? I got the pattern from a book called Cutest Ever Baby Knits by Val Pierce. I'm hoping I get a bit more time this week to carry on with some of my WIP's. You can check out how everyone else has got on over at Gingerbread Girl's blog.

Thanks for looking, have a good week.

Tuesday's Tallies.......Ladies Lace Crochet Socks.

Hi there, I hope you all had a good weekend, I had such a fun time at the Creative Heart and Soul Retreat, I'll tell you all about it, tomorrow.
I've been busy over the last couple of weeks, with one thing and another so haven't had much time for crocheting my bigger WIP's but I have tried to do a bit every day on my lace socks for my One a Day.
I saw the socks on somebody's FB page and thought they looked gorgeous, I found the pattern on Etsy and bought it as a download, you can find it here.

I'm on my first sock, I've finished the foot and have just started the lace pattern, it's an easy pattern to follow, with instructions on how to alter the size. I'm using my September's YOTM from The Natural Dye Studio which is a blend of 85% silk and 15% camel.

I think they are going to look fab with my boots with just a peek of the lace showing, if you don't want slouch socks, you can add some fine elastic to the top of the socks.

Check out how everyone else has got on this week with their projects, over at Carole's blog.

Thanks for looking and have a good week.

Tuesday's Tallies......crochet baby shoes.

Hi, I hope you all had a good weekend, I haven't managed to do much this week so my Tuesday's Tallies  post, will be short and sweet.
I still haven't made a decision on my Bobble Blanket but the majority of people think I should carry on and buy the wool a little bit at a time.I'll make a decision when I get back from my holiday, later this month.
I have made some crochet baby shoes with some leftover yarn that I'd got, the pattern was from the Jenny Watson Baby Boutique Book 2.

I've also started some crochet lace socks using the yarn from last month's YOTM that I get from the Natural Dye Studio, it's 85% silk/15% baby camel and is so soft and luxurious.

I will show more of them next week, I haven't made much progress so not much to show, if you go over to Carole's blog, you can check out how everybody else has got on this week.

Thanks for stopping by.

Tuesday's Tallies...............I have a dilemma.

Hello, I'm back today with my  Tuesday's Tallies and I have a dilemma !!! I absolutely love the Bobble Stitch blanket, that I started last week and have finished 7 colours this week but that's where I've stopped.

I'm enjoying doing the bobble stitch and love how it looks but I've just worked out how much it will cost me to finish !!!!! I will get 2 rows of bobbles from one 50g ball of yarn, which only measures 2cm, for a decent size blanket I'm looking at 170cm !!!!
So, doing the maths, I need 85 balls of Rooster yarn altogether at £4.85 which makes the blanket £412. I need to buy another 67, it's a long term project so I could spread the cost over 9-10 months, buying a few balls each month but can I justify spending that much on one blanket !!! I thought my Ripple blanket took a lot of yarn !!!
My dilemma is do I frog what I've done and make a cushion instead or carry on with the blanket, I really don't know. Help, what should I do, I'm edging more towards a cushion but would appreciate any advice.

I'll be back next Tuesday with my decision, I'm off now to check out how everyone else has got on with their One-a-Day's, over at Gingerbread Girl blog.

Tuesday's Tallies..........A New Project.

Hello, my lovely friends, I'm back today with this week's Tuesday's Tallies, I haven't been able to work on joining my Springtime Throw as my hands were still hurting but I will have another go in the next few days.
I have started a new project though which I'm very excited about !!!! Over the last couple of weeks, I've been trawling the web for the perfect project using my new Rooster yarn, I wanted a large blanket but not granny squares, I've done a ripple blanket so wanted something a bit different.
I just couldn't see anything that really grabbed me, until Sunday, I was blog hopping and Carole had put a link on her post for a Bobble Blanket. I instantly fell in love with gorgeous blanket and knew this was the one.

Isn't it gorgeous !!!!!! You can find the pattern here on Rachelle's blog called The Nearsighted Owl,  I started it yesterday afternoon, the only thing I've done different to Rachelle's pattern is the first row, I started off with a row of double crochet, just so it didn't curl so much when I was doing the bobbles.

Here's all 18 colours that I'll be using, I just love Rooster's colour palette, I'm not sure yet, what order I'll use them in, they are all so lush.

My chain is 199 and measures 141cm so it's quite a large blanket. I'm loving the pattern but it does use a lot of yarn, each colour uses approximately 24g, I have 18 colours to work with and I'll order more yarn a bit at a time to spread the cost.
Thanks for stopping by, don't forget to check out how everyone else has done this week over at Carole's blog.

Tuesday's Tallies......and some more new yarn.

Hello, I'm back with this week's Tuesday's Tallies, I've finished all the squares for my Springtime Throw and have a total of 780. I'm now in the process of joining them together but I've got to admit it's slow going, it's really hurting my hands for some reason, so can only do a little bit at a time.
Here's how it's looking.

Over the weekend I treated myself to some more new yarn, I love Rooster almerino dk so I decided to buy the rest of the colours in the range. Mmmm, now need to decide what my next project is going to be, using this gorgeous yarn.

I also bought some Rowan Cotton Handknit, such pretty colours.

The pink and lavender were at the bargain price of £2.00 a ball from the House of Fraser, they are also selling KnitPro crochet hooks and knitting needles at half price.I love a bargain !!!!

If you want to check out, how everyone else is progressing, hop over to Gingerbread Girl's blog. Thanks for stopping by, I really appreciate it..
